Belize, located in Central America, where English is an official language, was formerly known as British Honduras. It has the least population in Central America. It is a member of the World Trade Organization. The economy of Belize is dependant on agriculture, agro-based industry and merchandising. Tourism and construction are also gaining importance. The main crop of the country is sugar, responsible for nearly 50% of exports. The banana industry, on the other hand, employs more population than any other industry. Main industries of the country are garment production, food processing, tourism, construction and oil. |
